Description

Everyone has a corporate sponsor these days.  Meet the latest DSO sponsored by Lexus!

This Astrobin Debut Object shaped like a Lexus logo is a beautiful barred spiral galaxy located 130 million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major at a declination of +51 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13 galaxy whose bright ring spans 1.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 50,000 light years.

I love the contrast between the yellow core and the blue arms.  A touch of HII is seen in the upper half of the disk.  The arm structure looks like an inner ring although it is asymmetric, likely due to some disturbance in its past.  I am surprised by the lack of a visible outer disk, as well as the star stream arc which extends above the object.

I also like the 5 blue and orange galaxies and stars lined up beneath UGC 6309.
